What is the difference between PU/Rubber and PU/PU or PU/TPU soles?
All KPR’s footwears made in Toronto are PU/Rubber by design. The construct is peculiar in its application of two different components: Polyurethane (a lightweight cushion foam same as what you will find in your sofa or the memory foam pillows, commonly called, PU) for the MID-sole, and Rubber compounds (well known for its superb performance in abrasive resistance, anti-slip, and heat-resistant properties) for the outer layer OUT-sole.
The PU midsole serves as a bouncy cushion giving the support and shock resistance much needed by the wearers while the outer layer rubber performs the same duty as tires on a car, providing oil, slip, and abrasion resistance against the ground.
What does 100% non-metal mean? What is the advantage for that?
KPR’s 100% metal-free footwear means what it says – no metal components were used in any part of the footwear. In regular SAFETY/ Protective footwear it is common to use the less costly steel components for toe protection and the puncture-resistant feature; in 100% non-metallic footwear this is achieved by replacing all steel or metallic components with high-tech composite material that can withstand the same level of physical challenges – steel caps, plates, eyelets, decors are all replaced with non-steel components.
One obvious advantage of this is the lightweight of the resulting product which is proven to lessen the burden, stress, and pressure on the wearers; another commonly claimed advantage is the footwears’ non-responsiveness against metal detectors, the wearers do not need to take off their footwear to go through metal detectors, which has become a more common part of our daily lives nowadays.
What is a Double Elastic-Gore and what is a Double sided pull-up ribbons?
Elastic gore boots, also called Chelsea boots typically have the unique feature of elastic material on the side panels, and without laces nor zippers. They are close-fitting ankle boots typically equipped with a loop or fabric tab at the back, and nowadays even at the front to allow for easy stretch open for pulling on and off the foot.
For durability and safety KPR Chelsea boots are 100% done with “DOUBLE” elastic gore to prevent fatique of the elastic material which can quickly lose its functionality overtime; the “DOUBLE sided ribbon” used for the pull-up loops prevents the straps from being torn apart and break easily/quickly, again a value added feature for durability and safety of the footwear.
Are these boots anti-slip and lightweight?
All of the rubber soles found in KPR’s footwear are designed, compounded, and blended in-house by the KPR Rubber-Tech facility. With the additional advantage of toolings also made in-house, KPR has the confidence that footwears manufactured by KPR can live up to the challenges – including cold-flex cracking, oil resistance, and SLIP-RESISTANCE. Another point worth mentioning while discussing topics relating to slip and fall is “TRIP and fall” – when KPR designs its footwear, trip-and-fall is also a factor considered and tested during the design phase before prototyping.
